“Take their money and give us your votes” - Obi

Peter Obi, yesterday, 9th February 2023, during his party’s campaign rally at the old Parade Ground, Abuja, had promised he would work for the economic growth and prosperity of the country.


He promised not to appropriate state funds for himself and had boasted about the clearness of his records. He had said his opponents have tagged him as stingy because these opponents have stolen all the money.


Obi told supporters to accept money from other parties attempting to buy their votes, since “it is your money,” but to cast their votes for him, vowing to tackle security challenges and make Nigeria a state that everyone would be proud of. 


Obi and Datti have asked that Nigerians hold them responsible for a new Nigeria. He promised to change the country and stop all stealing while affirming and boasting about the fact that none of them had stolen money from the government. 


Everything it takes to return the nation’s former glory, Obi and Datti had said they will do. They promised to beat down all the hardships and maximise all human and natural resources available for the development of the country.


He had maintained that a new Nigeria is possible. He had said that youths are the ones contesting for the February 25 election through him. He had said that the election would be about character.


Yes, character, competence and capacity of the presidential candidate rather than religion, tribe or sentiments. “Nigeria will feed itself. Nigeria will be a great nation again.  We don’t want excuses again. That is what Datti and I are offering you.”

Many polls are being released ahead of the presidential election on the 25th of February, with the most recent being the Premise Data Corp polls for Bloomberg in San Francisco, where Obi emerged winner on Friday. In the US-based poll, Obi polled 66 per cent of the votes, as Tinubu and Atiku polled 18 and 10 per cent respectively. Kwakwanso, faulting these polls predicting the February 25 outcome, states that his supporters are not on social media. “If you want to meet them, go to Wuse Market, go to the markets in Kano; go to the market in Sabo, Ibadan, go to markets in Rivers and the roads and so on, and ask people,” he had said saying they don’t represent the realities on the ground.
