Obi praises the closure of Universities for the general elections

Reactions have greeted the pronouncement by the National Universities Commission (NUC), favouring the temporary shutdown of the higher institutions of learning, between the 22nd of February through the 14th of March.

Eminent personalities which include Peter Obi of the Labour Party have lauded the National Universities Commission, (NUC), for the closure of universities and inter-university centres which it ordered.

This will enable students who have been spread nationwide the opportunity to participate in the polls and exercise their constitutional rights to vote, as directed by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu.

With higher schools shut for the aforementioned period, it is heart-warming that everyone will be closed up in respective closets close by friends and families, and to a meaningful degree, the safety of lives is guaranteed.

Obi on Twitter heartily welcomed this decision of the NUC to close universities ahead of the 2023 general elections, a directive the Education Minister gave after a series of consultations with relevant security agencies.
