The National Universities Commission (NUC), today, 9th February 2023, as directed by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has ordered the closure of universities across the country.

This was confirmed in a letter issued to all University Vice-Chancellors and Directors of inter-university centres, to enable students to participate in the 2023 general elections slated for February and March this year.
It will be recalled that the Presidential and National Assembly polls come up on Saturday, 25th February 2023, with the Gubernatorial and State Assembly parts slated for Saturday, 11th March 11, 2023.
After extensive consultations with relevant security agencies on the welfare of University dwellers, Mallam Adamu finally came up with the directive and suspected academic activities from the 22nd of February and 14th of March 2023.
With higher schools shut for the aforementioned period, it is heart-warming that everyone will be closed up in respective closets close by friends and families, and to a meaningful degree, the safety of lives is guaranteed.
